Procedures

The Derby and Derbyshire Safeguarding Children Procedures were reviewed in September 2008 and this version replaces all previous guidance documents.  Derby and Derbyshire Safeguarding Children Boards have co-operated to ensure that the procedures are suitable for use in both areas.

These Procedures include the essential principles embodied in the Children Act 1989 and Children Act 2004 and take into account the best working practice. They also incorporate the thinking to be found in 'Working Together to Safeguard Children' (2006).

The Derby and Derbyshire Safeguarding Children Procedures Handbook is available to download in full below.

NB: this is a large document and is not suitable to download if you are using a dial-up connection.

Once the document is opened, you can click on the tab to the left hand side of the page labelled BOOKMARKS. You can use this to search for the section you want, and when you click on it, it will take you straight there. You can also use the emboldened text to navigate through the document.

Please use the Email Registration Form (opens in a new window) on this website to register your details and we will send you an email notification whenever the procedures are reviewed and updated.

Hard copies of the procedures are available in all libraries – however, the procedures have been designed to be used electronically and the hard copies will not give access to all the important web-based additional information and links

If you have a hard copy of the procedures you should ensure that you update it whenever notification of amendments is issued

If you have any difficulties accessing any of the documents on this page, or if you notice any errors or omissions; please contact Dona Womack on 01629 532181 or dona.womack@derbyshire.gov.uk .
